Experts from across Queensland will present at a free Mackay seniors’ hearing health session at Souths Leagues Club from 9am Tuesday, August 29.
Mackay Hearing Director and Principal Audiologist Jodie Miles is first on the bill with a presentation on getting the best from hearing aids.
“Understandably, it’s pretty frustrating to have a hearing impairment and when your hearing aids are uncomfortable or don’t seem to make a difference – they often just get left in the drawer,” Ms Miles said.
“This doesn’t have to be the case. At Mackay Hearing, our focus is on client care so we have some great tips and tricks for ensuring that your aids provide maximum benefit.”
Deaf Services Queensland will present on ageing well, and what support they have to offer anyone with a hearing issue.
Mackay local Glenda Froyland will share her personal journey, about how she lost the ability to understand spoken words and how bilateral cochlear implants enabled her to hear and communicate once again.
The session will conclude with a Q&A featuring Lisa Rainbow from Cochlear, and a free morning tea.
“This line-up of hearing experts is a first for Mackay, and we’re expecting quite a crowd so bookings are essential.
“We’ll also be treated to a performance from a mystery guest, as well as a signing interpreter for all the presentations.”
